Great location in the quiet community of Lake Roberts. Walking distance to the Lake Roberts Country Store (open Weds-Sun and available by appointment outside of those hours to guests) and Lake Roberts General Store (open seasonally Thurs-Sun). Lake Roberts lake is less than a mile over the hill to the east for phenomenal Bass, Catfish, and Trout fishing; kayaking; canoeing; hiking; or birdwatching.
This is a central location to what the Gila has to offer. Close to Lake Roberts, 20 minutes to Gila Hot Springs; 25-30 minutes to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Close by trails to hike and ride are far too many to list!
Guests have full access to the entire home and the entire 5-acres including the lower "park-like" meadows that lead into the National Forest... where one can explore as much of the 3+ million acres as their hearts' desire.
From the moment you drive up the private driveway through the hill of ponderosas, turning into the level parking area facing this beautiful adobe home, you will feel the stress dissipate. The workmanship in this home has many unique aspects, utilizing natural products such as locally harvested wood, brick, and adobe (essentially mud, sand, and water) and allowing in beautiful natural light through the many skylights in all rooms. This gives a calming feel of being "grounded" and close to nature while in the home.
Enjoy the numerous indoor and outdoor spaces throughout this property. Whether you choose the outdoor or indoor patio with a view of the National Forest, the adobe courtyard, the attached greenhouse, any of the lovely rooms of the house, or the lower meadow opening into the Gila National Forest, you will have it all to yourself and will feel as though you've been removed from the rest of the world into your own.
The main entrance is through the peaceful courtyard, where you'll frequently see local little lizards scurrying about their day. Notice the gorgeous artistic detail as you enter this house, right down to the kiva fireplace in the living room, arched doorways, and inset shelving to the walls throughout.
The two bedrooms each have comfy Queen beds and individual "Mr. Cool" wall units to control the temperature in each room. One bedroom opens into the beautiful SW style courtyard, while the other opens into the attached active greenhouse. Both equally wonderful! There is an additional queen-sized inflatable mattress available that is stored in the laundry room, which expands the sleeping capability of this lovely home to a total of 6 guests.
The greenhouse is fully available to guests and you are welcome to utilize the fresh herbs, lettuce, or other veggies that are ripe. The greenhouse is on an auto-water system, so you don't have to worry about the care of the plants while there... just enjoy the benefits!
The kitchen is fully equipped with all that you need, including microwave, air fryer, coffee maker, all utensils for cooking/eating, pots/pans, dishes, cooking oils, spices, etc.. This home is a home that is lived in by the owners a good portion of the year, not just set up with the minimum needs for AirBnB stays, so it boasts many "extras" in the kitchen!
Dining areas are plentiful, including a lovely table that seats 4 and opens into the living room area; the attached enclosed patio with a romantic table for two and ambiance lighting; or the picnic table on the outdoor patio.
The main bathroom is lovely and has a modern bidet with all the bells and whistles. The window looking into the greenhouse from the bathroom and the overhead skylight offer lovely natural light. There is a shower/tub combo as well. The laundry room also has a 1/2 bath.
The comfy sectional sofa in the living room faces a decorative kiva fireplace, and a 48" SmartTV with Netflix and Hulu.
There are no nearby neighbors and the house sits far enough from the highway that you don't even hear any vehicles, which makes this home and space absolutely exquisite and private. Paths lead from behind the home to the lower portion of the property boasting lovely meadows and a private path up a draw into the Gila National Forest and Wilderness. Spots like this are rare and hard to find.
The nearest large airports are El Paso TX (3-hour drive) and Tucson AZ (4-hour drive). However, Advanced Airlines is a small airline that flies into Grant County Airport in Silver City from Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Los Angeles at a very reasonable rate. Go directly to their website for flight options, as they don't show up on the other booking sites. Rental Cars are available at the Grant County Airport through Silver Car Rental (must reserve in advance).
