Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at the Gem of the Mountain cabin. The fire pit was so much fun. Coming from Florida, we worried about bugs, but the only bugs we saw were the fireflies in the woods. It was a very beautiful experience. The property was clean. In fact, it looked brand new. The cleaning people do an amazing job, as my son, who regularly suffers from dust mite allergies, did not have any symptoms the entire time we were there. The house had everything we needed for our stay- wine bottle opener, pizza pan and cutters, storage containers, marshmallow roasting sticks. If you need it, it is there. Honestly, it was so much nicer than I could have imagined. It was close to Helen but still in the mountains, so we enjoyed tubing, kayaking, hiking, and swimming. This is the perfect spot for a cabin get-a-way, and this is the perfect cabin for two families looking to enjoy a week away with their kids. We had a party of 8- my family of 3 and my friend's family of 5 (4 kids and 4 adults total). We had plenty of room because the cabin feels much bigger in person than it looks online in pictures. The kids loved the downstairs movie theatre. We loved the short ride into town and to the local state parks. Ruby Falls is literally 5 minutes up the road, along with hiking, swimming and kayaking. Helen is about 10 minutes away- literally right down the road. The internet worked well, too. Overall, this trip was the best!
